DFAS Blue Cloud Environment (DBCE) use of Artificial Intelligence is growing and DFAS is looking to be a world class provider that continues to deliver first class service & products. The DoD has accelerated the adoption of AI and request that the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC) as the focus for carrying this out. DFAS worked with the JAIC to pilot their AI cloud. By using this approach, it provided an authorized/ATO environment for development and testing which DFAS used to build AI development application using sentiment analysis. Sentiment analysis allowed for rapid repeatable and automated identification of customer feedback and provides for automated and consistent scoring and eliminates human interpretation bias. The Joint Common Foundation (JCF) is JAIC cloud for development and test which offered MS Azure and AWS AI domains and tools. DFAS decided to use Ms Azure for their Sentiment analysis. Azure provides high availability, automatic scaling of systems, and eventually posture DFAS to move to a true native cloud environment, leveraging technology such as Platform as a Service, Database as a Server, Infrastructure as Code and data analytics. DFAS mission has required the use of Microsoft Azure services that are only available in the vendor's specific cloud environment. This is required to support the Strategic Initiative for the Agency and by using AI and DFAS will have the capability to support to transform business operations.
