Investment Detail

The College Scorecard serves as the Department's primary consumer tool for presenting key institutional metrics relevant to college choice decisions. College Scorecard enables Americans to make informed choices where approximately $150b in federal student aid is awarded each year. Over 3.8 million unique users have visited the site since it launched September 2015. Over 5000 private sector developers have registered to access data via the API (e.g. Google, College Abacus, Schoold) to dynamically use College Scorecard data without hosting the data on their own. College Scorecard produces and disseminates this consumer information without any additional data collection burden, leveraging NCES's existing IPEDS collections and the federal government's own administrative data from FSA and IRS.
