As CMS systems modernize, the API Gateway solution using MuleSoft will result in cost savings for other programs by replacing less modern technology in license renewal costs. The API Gateway program is the backbone for sharing large data in a single instance. In the near future, CMS will be extending data sharing to the States for Medicare and Medicaid provider enrollment, the API Gateway will play a critical role in this process. Data sharing, transparency and working more closely with the States has been and is a CMS strategic initiative.
