Investment Detail

The ROI for CDX services is achieved through cost avoidance across multiple Agency information exchange systems and through time savings for government employees. By re-using centralized services, the EPA program offices and Environmental Information Exchange Network (EN) partners will avoid redundant investment in the development and operations of information exchange and identity management services.

Per the CDX Alternatives Analysis 2021, by continuing the modernization of CDX using updated tools, including an Open Data Platform, CDX can expect to see an ROI of 1.13 (over 10 years) with a NPV (Net Present Value ) of $1,603,391 and a payback period of approximately 5 years. This option leverages considerable research and development in Platform as a Service (PaaS) cloud technologies, promotes use of reusable digital services, and enables the CDX program office to effectively use limited resources to deliver benefits to EPA and the nation.
