Grant Description
Application Purpose: The City of Wausau requests $1,432,896 of FY 2022 Section 5307 Operating Assistance for the Wausau Area Transit System d.b.a. Metro Ride for calendar year 2022. Funding will cover operating expenses incurred from January 1, 2022, through December 31, 2022. The project was included in the Table 1 Project A of the 2022-2025 Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) for the Wausau Metropolitan Area. The local share of this 5307 Operating Assistance project totals $1,432,896 (50%), of which $615,099 is funded by City of Wausau property tax revenues and $817,797 is funded through transit-aid grants from the State of Wisconsin.
Activities Performed: Operating assistance will fund public transit services, including fixed-route bus and complimentary ADA paratransit, within the municipal boundaries of the City of Wausau.
Expected Outcomes: Metro Ride will continue to be able to provide access to affordable transit service in 2022 throughout the City of Wausau, Wisconsin.
Intended Beneficiaries: Citizens in the Wausau area will benefit from the availability of accessible and affordable transportation options in calendar year 2022. All residents, visitors, and businesses in our community can benefit from reliable and modern public transit.
