Bipartisan Infrastructure Law-BIL-The Grid of the Future Project
The Grid of the Future Project (Project) seeks to expand PPL Electric Utilities Corporation’s (PPL Electric or Company) self-healing grid to support improved reliability and resiliency and, distributed energy resources (DERs) and electric vehicle (EV) deployment in Eastern and Central Pennsylvania.
The project portfolio consists of $99 million of investments that enable communities in PPL Electric’s service territory to advance transportation electrification goals by improving the ability of the electric grid to avoid, mitigate, and recover from major disruptions, and, consequently, ensure reliable charging capability for school districts and communities.

THIS FUNDING OPPORTUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT (DE-FOA-0002740) SUPPORTS THE GRID RESILIENCE AND INNOVATION PARTNERSHIPS (GRIP) PROGRAM AND SUPPORTS THE DEVELOPMENT OF COMPREHENSIVE AND REGIONAL RESILIENCE STRATEGIES TO ADDRESS THE INCREASING THREATS TO OUR POWER SYSTEM INFRASTRUCTURE; SPECIFICALLY, TO PREVENT OUTAGES AND ENHANCE THE RESILIENCE OF THE ELECTRIC GRID, DEPLOY TECHNOLOGIES TO ENHANCE GRID FLEXIBILITY, AND DEMONSTRATE INNOVATIVE APPROACHES TO POWER SECTOR INFRASTRUCTURE RESILIENCE AND RELIABILITY.
