Thresholds provides innovative behavioral and primary healthcare that promotes empowerment, well-being, and full participation in community life. Through unwavering community-based engagement, support, and advocacy, Thresholds helps people living with mental health and substance use conditions find home, health, and hope.
Thresholds South is one of the agency's oldest and largest flagship programs that has operated out of 734 W. 47th Street, Chicago IL since 1975. Renovation of this space with the support of congressionally directed spending allocated to HRSA will revitalize a high-need community area by expanding access to integrated primary and behavioral healthcare to residents of Chicago's New City neighborhood.
Grant funds used for the construction project will support the following:
- A 7,000 square foot, three-story addition, with an elevator, that will tie in seamlessly to the existing building on the property.
- In addition to making the entire building accessible, the new space will create expanded new treatment space and office space for Thresholds clinicians.
- Additional renovations include energy-efficient lighting, construction of ramps at the main building entrance and emergency exits, upgrades to restrooms to make them more wheelchair accessible, and reconfiguration of the main building entrance with a courtyard on a commercial street.
- The new floor plan will include an on-site pharmacy, a conference room, group therapy rooms, and expanded office space for clinicians to provide on-site services.
