Background
The U.S. Department of the Interior's WaterSMART Program aims to secure water supplies for future generations and increase water supply reliability through investments in existing infrastructure.

The Water Conservation Field Services Program (WCFSP) supports priorities identified in Presidential Executive Orders and encourages recipients of water from Federal water projects to conserve water and prepare and implement water conservation plans.

Grant Details
The NOFO provides funding for projects that will increase water reliability and improve water management through the promotion and implementation of water efficiency measures.

Eligible projects include developing written water management and conservation plans, conducting System Optimization Reviews (SORs) to assess potential water management improvements, and improving the understanding of water conservation techniques through demonstration activities.

The NOFO emphasizes the need for projects to address climate change resiliency, support underserved communities, and provide ecological value.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include states, Indian tribes, irrigation districts, water districts, or other organizations with water or power delivery authority located in the Upper Colorado Basin Region.

Applicants must be capable of cost-sharing 50 percent or more of the total project costs.

Period of Performance
Projects funded under this NOFO should be completed within two years of award, with a possibility of extension up to five years.

Grant Value
Approximately $500,000 is available for awards under this NOFO, with a maximum federal share of $100,000 per entity per year.

Cost-sharing may be made through cash or in-kind contributions from the applicant or third-party partners.

Place of Performance
Projects must be located within the geographic areas covered by the Upper Colorado Basin Region.
