Open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a project to create a trusted judicial advocacy network, modeled after the American Inns of Court, that furthers professionalism, integrity, and mutual respect among peers in North Macedonia's legal community. Through this network, members will learn from one another and through targeted training and other opportunities to promote judicial independence, thereby contributing to strengthening rule of law.
Background
The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) is seeking applications for a project to create a trusted judicial advocacy network in North Macedonia. The project aims to further professionalism, integrity, and mutual respect among peers in the legal community, contributing to strengthening the rule of law.

Grant Details
The project will involve establishing an invitation-only professional organization for legal practitioners modeled after the American Inns of Court. It will also involve developing by-laws, vision, mission, goals, and educational opportunities. Additionally, it will include mentorship relationships among members and public programs to raise awareness about how the judiciary serves the public. If successful, the project may be expanded to other areas or countries in the region.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include U.S.-based non-profit/non-governmental organizations (NGOs), U.S.-based educational institutions subject to section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. tax code or section 26 US 115 of the U.S. tax code, foreign-based non-profits/non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and foreign-based educational institutions. Cost sharing is recommended but not required for this project.

Period of Performance
The period of performance for the project is 24-36 months, with an anticipated program start date in September 2024. The deadline for submission of applications is July 1, 2024.

Grant Value
$600,000 is available for funding with one award anticipated. The application ceiling is up to $600,000 and the application floor is at least $450,000.

Place of Performance
The project will be performed in North Macedonia.
