This Research Announcement represents a Solicitation for a research thrust, entitled Somnus, that will focus on the identification of molecules and mechanisms of host interactions with the gut microbiome that are associated with the restorative effect of sleep on cognitive performance. DARPA's Biological Technologies Office (BTO) solicits rapid, targeted and limited scope investments through our Research Announcements. Grant Details
To achieve this goal, funded studies will utilize an animal model of acute sleep deprivation and recovery, along with a variety of approaches to collect biospecimens for measurement and analysis.
