Background
The Pediatric Pulmonary Centers (PPC) program, administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration's Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB), aims to provide interdisciplinary training to enhance the health of infants, children, and adolescents suffering from chronic respiratory conditions, sleep issues, and other related special health care needs.

The program addresses significant workforce shortages in pediatric pulmonary care and strives to improve access to care for underserved populations.

Grant Details
The PPC program's goals include assembling interdisciplinary cohorts of graduate or post-graduate trainees, recruiting diverse trainees and faculty, engaging individuals with lived experiences of chronic respiratory conditions, and strengthening partnerships with Title V agencies and community partners.

Key tasks include developing an interdisciplinary PPC curriculum, recruiting at least one trainee annually in pediatric pulmonary medicine, nursing, nutrition, social work, and a needs-based discipline. The program emphasizes the recruitment of trainees from underrepresented backgrounds and aims to engage individuals with lived experience as trainees or partners.

The curriculum must cover chronic respiratory disorders, systems of care for children with special health care needs, cultural responsiveness, and Title V legislation.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include institutions of higher learning such as public or non-profit private colleges or universities accredited by a recognized body. Teaching hospitals affiliated with accredited schools of medicine are also eligible. Native American tribal governments that are institutions of higher learning may apply. Individuals are not eligible applicants. Applicants must maintain accreditation throughout the grant period.

Period of Performance
The grant period is expected to span five years from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2030. Each award will cover five 12-month budget periods.
