Description

Request For Information Only

This RFI is issued solely for informational and planning purposes; it does not constitute a request for proposals or applications, nor promise to issue a future solicitation. USAID/Egypt's new family planning (FP) activity design will support and contribute to the Government of Egypt's (GOE) National Population Strategy (NPS) 2023-2030 and the national human development project "Bedaya" launched in August 2024, and will align with "Egypt Vision 2030" and the framework of the National Dialogue.

This new activity will incorporate high impact practices in FP and innovative, promising approaches to improve family health outcomes. The Mission will work with the Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP), the National Population Council (NPC), and potentially other Ministries to support the achievement of NPS milestones.

Background
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is initiating a new family planning (FP) activity in Egypt to support the National Population Strategy (2023–2030) and align with 'Egypt Vision 2030'. This initiative aims to implement innovative practices to improve family health outcomes by collaborating with Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population, the National Population Council, and other ministries.

The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to gather evidence-based solutions and recommendations to enhance USAID's efforts in the family planning sector.

Grant Details
The RFI seeks input on various aspects of family planning services, including barriers to access, community perceptions, motivations, and beliefs surrounding family planning methods. Key areas of inquiry include understanding why women do not use family planning methods despite wanting to space or limit their children, reasons for discontinuation of contraceptive use, factors influencing decision-making regarding family planning, and the role of healthcare providers in supporting women.

The RFI emphasizes the importance of addressing community rumors about side effects, improving accessibility to healthcare units (HCUs), and enhancing counseling services provided by healthcare professionals.

Eligibility Requirements
This RFI is open to all interested parties who can provide insights into family planning services in Egypt. There are no specific eligibility requirements outlined for participation.

Period of Performance
The period of performance for any resulting contracts or agreements will be determined based on responses received from this RFI and subsequent solicitations that may be issued.

Grant Value
The total value of the grant opportunity has not been specified in the RFI. Individual grant awards will depend on future solicitations that may arise from this information-gathering process.

Place of Performance
The activities under this initiative will primarily take place in Egypt, specifically targeting regions where family planning services are needed.
