The purpose of this Notice of Funding Announcement (NOFO) is to encourage innovative research that will inform and support the delivery of high-quality, continuously improving mental health services to benefit the greatest number of individuals with, or at risk for developing, a mental illness. This announcement invites applications for non-clinical trial R01-level projects that address NIMH strategic priorities for mental health services research.

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), part of the Department of Health and Human Services, aims to transform the understanding and treatment of mental illnesses through research. Grant Details
This NOFO solicits research projects that include:
(a) identifying mutable factors impacting access, continuity, utilization, quality, value, and outcomes of mental health services;
(b) developing and testing new research tools, technologies, measures, or methods;
(c) integrating and analyzing large data sets to understand factors affecting mental health service outcomes using advanced computational approaches. Projects should leverage existing infrastructure and partnerships to maximize public health impact.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include higher education institutions (public/state controlled, private), nonprofits (with or without 501(c)(3) status), for-profit organizations (including small businesses), local/state/county governments, tribal governments, federal agencies, and foreign organizations. Applications from diverse backgrounds are encouraged.

Period of Performance
The maximum project period is 5 years. Specific timelines will depend on the scope of the proposed project.

Grant Value
Application budgets are not limited but must reflect the actual needs of the proposed project. The number of awards is contingent upon NIH appropriations and the submission of a sufficient number of meritorious applications.

Place of Performance
Research may be conducted in various settings relevant to mental health services delivery.
