The project seeks to revolutionize irrigation practices by introducing solar-powered drip irrigation systems, addressing critical issues of water scarcity and energy dependence in the agricultural sector.

Grant Details
The project will include:
A) Training modules on solar-powered drip irrigation technology focusing on installation, operation, and maintenance;
B) Establishing a mentorship program pairing experienced practitioners with new adopters;
C) Launching a community-led initiative to monitor and report on agricultural landscapes' health and sustainability;
D) Hosting specialized workshops on integrating solar technologies into irrigation systems.

The project will commence with a preparatory phase for stakeholder engagement and training material development, followed by intensive training sessions over months three to six.

Months seven and eight will focus on mentorship and community monitoring initiatives, concluding with an evaluation of the project's impact in months nine to twelve. High-quality instructional videos will be produced for ongoing education, supplemented by webinars and live Q&A sessions with U.S. experts.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include U.S. and foreign not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations that have demonstrated experience in developing similar programs and have the capacity to operate in Iraq with active partnerships.

Period of Performance
The performance period is set for 12 months, starting from September 30, 2024, with proposed programs expected to be completed within 16 months or less.
