The National Park Service's (NPS) Underrepresented Communities Grant Program (URC) is intended to diversify listings in the National Register of Historic Places to include communities that are currently underrepresented. URC grants are funded by the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF), and are administered by the NPS. Projects include surveys and nominations of historic sites associated with communities underrepresented in the National Register. Every URC grant project MUST result in at least one new or amended nomination to the National Register of Historic Places.

Grant Details
Projects include surveys and nominations of historic sites associated with communities underrepresented in the National Register. Every URC grant project MUST result in at least one new or amended nomination to the National Register of Historic Places. The budget justification worksheet provides detailed instructions for breaking down the total project cost into Federal or matching share within nine budget categories, including administrative and project-related costs. It also outlines specific sections for personnel, fringe benefits, travel and per diem, equipment, supplies and materials, contractual/consultant fees, construction/conservation materials and labor, other costs, indirect charges, and budget summary.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants for the grant program include organizations involved in historic preservation activities such as state historic preservation offices, federally recognized Indian tribes, local governments, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions.
