Title
A Powerful & Disruptive Passive Radar Based Real-Time Drone Detection Application
Abstract
OneRadar, OneRadio Corporation's powerful, disruptive and covert Passive Coherent Location (PCL) based real-time drone detection application, is currently between TRL-6 and TRL-7. The primary goal of Phase II is to mature the system to TRL-8 and prepare for Phase III transition to operational users/warfighters. This maturation will focus on operator usability, interoperability, and demonstration of detection performance and has been shaped by interactions with operators (representatives from the 116thASOS, the 138th ATKS, and others). A robust capability for detecting non-cooperative/non-transmitting drones is critical for developing and maintain air domain situational awareness and is the first step in the cUAS kill chain. This detection capability supports the evolution of the Advanced Battle Management System and Resilient Basing, both key DAF Operational Imperatives. The capability is essential to protecting our deployed forces, forward bases, and facilities in the CONUS from drone attacks and drone-based surveillance. Traditional air defense radars are expensive, are not covert and are often an operational mismatch when used against drones. Investments in new multimodal approaches such as OneRadar can provide affordable, robust, and easily deployable UAS capability. The footprint of OneRadar can be small enough that organic, covert UAS detection capability can be provided to special forces and other forward operators. Phase II will produce operability/useability enhancements tailored to user needs and demonstrated (along with key performance metrics) in operationally relevant environments. These enhancements will address rapid installation and setup with minimally trained personnel, mission planning, interoperability and performance improvements. Two systems will be delivered to operators at end of contract.
Research Objective
The goal of phase II is to continue the R&D efforts initiated in Phase I. Funding is based on the results achieved in Phase I and the scientific and technical merit and commercial potential of the project proposed in Phase II.
