Small Technology Transfer Research Program (STTR) Phase I
Title
Anomaly Detection in Video Streams via Expert LLM Interrogator
Abstract
Physical Sciences Inc. endeavors to create a video anomaly detection system that maintains constant surveillance of video footage while offering operators an interactive interface for obtaining detailed information on detected anomalies. The software will utilize state-of the art machine learning techniques to rapidly identify drug or human smuggling activities of interest with as little as one example.Downstream anomalies can be probed for further information by surveillance operators using a chat interface. The resulting prototype will be deployed on cloud infrastructure which interfaces with standard video feed inputs. The software is designed to increase the number of criminal activities observed in maritime surveillance footage, ultimately leading to a reduction in drug and human smuggling incidents within the nation.Additionally, the swift detection of irregularities, coupled with the capability to inquire about these anomalies for additional details, will greatly alleviate the cognitive strain endured by surveillance personnel.
Research Objective
The goal of phase I is to establish the technical merit, feasibility, and commercial potential of proposed R&D efforts and determine the quality of performance of the small business awardee organization. STTRs are completed in conjunction with a research institution.
