Description

AMS would like to thank the industry and public for comments pertaining to the revision of the Yogurt Products CRD. The CRD is revised to reflect a regulatory cap placed on added sugars, new container and packaging color requirements, and new material code.

Background
The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) of the USDA is issuing a revised Commodity Requirement Document (CRD) for Yogurt Products, effective November 2024. This revision reflects new regulatory caps on added sugars, updated container and packaging color requirements, and new material codes. The AMS aims to ensure that yogurt products meet specific standards for use in domestic programs.

Work Details
The yogurt products must conform to the following specifications:

1. **Product Requirements**:
- Must meet the Standard of Identity as specified in 21 CFR 131.200.
- Must be high protein as defined in 21 CFR 101.54(b).
- Must be Type II (high protein) Subtype A and B as per Commercial Item Description (CID), A-A-20364.
- Must comply with non-fat labeling requirements in 21 CFR 101.62(b)(1)(i) and fat labeling in 21 CFR 130.10(e).
- For contracts awarded through June 30, 2025: Maximum of 23 grams total sugars per 6 oz; maximum of 15 grams per 4 oz serving.
- For contracts awarded July 1, 2025, and later: Maximum of 12 grams added sugars per 6 oz; maximum of 8 grams added sugars per 4 oz serving.
- Non-nutritive sweeteners are prohibited.
- Flavor options must be specified in the schedule of supply.
- Product temperature during storage and transportation must be maintained at 35 – 42 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. **Kosher Requirements**:
- Yogurt Products must be certified Kosher with the appropriate certification symbol on the label.

3. **Warranties**:
- Shelf-life must be at least 50 days from manufacture date; product cannot be manufactured more than 10 days prior to delivery.

4. **Quality Assurance**:
- Contractors must perform product testing and provide a Certificate of Analysis (COA). COAs must be retained for seven years.

Deliveries will be made to locations specified by the USDA.
