Page 2 of 2 Project 590-220 Construct Rehab Medicine Facility Hampton, Virginia Construction Scope of Work Project Background: This scope of work is for the minor construction Project 590-220 for the construction of the Rehab Medicine Facility and the demolition of the existing Building 52 located at the Hampton VA Medical Center. Complete demolition of the existing Building 52 as indicated in the construction documents. The work must be performed in a careful manner protecting. from damage those items not to be removed. Careful coordination of all demolition work on Building 52 site and areas in Building 110B shall be completed with COR prior to beginning work. The new construction consists of, but is not limited to, construction of Building 46 and light renovation of Rehab Medicine areas being vacated from Building 110B. Statement of Work: The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, and equipment to accomplish the project per construction drawings and specifications. The contractor shall provide all tools, labor, materials, equipment, supervision, professional services, and expertise required to perform general construction, alterations, electrical work, concrete work, masonry work, grading, grubbing, seeding, necessary removal and disposal of existing trees, structures, and certain other items as indicated in the construction documents. The contractor shall manage and perform Construction Period Services (CPS) as further defined in the contract to include, but not limited to, permitting, demolition, construction, construction management, submittals, equipment, scheduling, inspection and testing, environmental protection, recording of (As-Built) drawings and project closeout. The contractor shall also develop a schedule demonstrating fulfillment of the contract requirements such as: Project Schedule, Contractor Quality Control, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) Plan, Environmental Plan and all other plans listed within this document to include deliverables. The Contractor shall keep the project schedule up to date in accordance with the requirements of the contract and shall utilize the plan for scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring work under this contract (including all activities of subcontractors, equipment vendors and suppliers). This work includes, but is not limited to: Demolition: Complete demolition of the existing Building 52 as indicated in the construction documents. Work must be performed in a careful manner protecting from damage those items not to be removed. Careful coordination of all demolition work on Building 52 site and areas in Building 110B shall be completed with COR prior to beginning work. New construction consists of, but is not limited to: Construction of Building 46. Light renovation of Rehab Medicine areas being vacated from Building 110B. Additional project specific notes: Items not noted as to be demolished shall be protected from damage. Any damage not caused by the owner or deemed to be normal wear shall be corrected by the contractor with no additional time and/or money. Temporary construction items such as dust walls, safety barriers, etc. shall be the responsibility of the contractor. Obtain approval from VA staff prior to the installation of such temporary construction. Coordinate with the VA COR prior to performing shutdowns of electrical power systems, HVAC equipment, chilled water systems, and fire suppression systems for modifications and tie-ins. Phasing: Refer to drawings for phasing information. As a working hospital the adjacent spaces and functions will need to be maintained and a high degree of coordination and scheduling will be required to allow the continuation of the existing hospital services during the entire construction project. All work to be completed at the Hampton VA Medical Center 100 Emancipation Drive; Hampton, Virginia 23667. Work is to be completed within 910 calendar days from Notice to Proceed (NTP). Construction Phasing Project to be phased to not interrupt current health care services provided throughout the existing facility. Plans to be developed by the Contractor and approved by the VA to eliminate interruptions or kept to an absolute minimum. Emergency egress shall not be compromised during construction. Contractor parking and staging areas have not been identified. Staging for construction materials will be available as close as possible to affected building, if necessary, during construction. Contractor is responsible for building construction/demolition remediation throughout construction process until the work is accepted by the VA. Contractor to coordinate with VA COR prior to all construction phasing and staging while on station. The Contractor will only be afforded access to the VAMC from the exterior work side and no access will be afforded the Contractor in or through VAMC spaces. Justification for this Project: This Project is required to provide to the VAMC the space and facilities to provide updated rehabilitation services to the veteran population in this community. Additionally, this project has been determined to be a Bona Fide need by the Hampton VAMC, the VISN 6 Capital Asset Manager, and the VHA Healthcare Environment and Facilities Programs (HEFP). *****END OF SCOPE*****
Background
This scope of work is for the minor construction Project 590-220 for the construction of the Rehab Medicine Facility and the demolition of the existing Building 52 located at the Hampton VA Medical Center.

This project aims to provide updated rehabilitation services to the veteran population in this community and has been determined to be a Bona Fide need by the Hampton VAMC, VISN 6 Capital Asset Manager, and VHA Healthcare Environment and Facilities Programs (HEFP).

Work Details
The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, and equipment to accomplish the project per construction drawings and specifications.

The work includes: complete demolition of Building 52, careful coordination with COR prior to beginning work, construction of Building 46, light renovation of Rehab Medicine areas vacated from Building 110B, general construction, alterations, electrical work, concrete work, masonry work, grading, grubbing, seeding, removal and disposal of existing trees and structures as indicated in the documents.

The contractor must manage Construction Period Services (CPS) including permitting, demolition management, scheduling, inspection and testing, environmental protection, recording of As-Built drawings and project closeout.

Temporary construction items like dust walls and safety barriers are also the contractor's responsibility.
