Wavelength Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer (WD-XRF)

Background
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is a component of the Department of the Treasury that designs, engraves, and prints U.S. banknote currency and other U.S. security products. In support of these operations at BEP’s Eastern Currency Facility (ECF) located in Washington, DC, the BEP, Office of Quality Operations (OQO) has a need for a new Wave Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer (WD-XRF). The WD-XRF will be used to analyze materials primarily used for elemental analyses of electroplating solutions, inks, engraved plates, currency paper, wastewater, ink films, printed currency, as well as for quality control of other materials used in the production process and for quality control monitoring of currency.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide a sequential WD-XRF spectrometer system that is new and includes all sub-systems and major components listed in Section III. The system must feature the latest and current state-of-the-art analog and digitally controlled components that are seamlessly integrated into a complete instrument system. The WD-XRF spectrometer must include appropriate analyzer crystals and detectors that are demonstrably capable of elemental analyses for carbon through uranium with superior quantitative performance for carbon through first-row transition metals.
The contractor shall provide all personnel for the required labor, equipment and materials, transportation, and supervision to deliver and install the WD-XRF system. The contractor shall be responsible for the performance of all activities and materials to install and make the system ready for operation. The contractor shall provide startup assistance, training, calibration procedure, integration, and warranty for this requirement herein.
