Background

The goal is to establish a new service for critical water treatment in the Sterile Processing Service (SPS) to ensure compliance with health standards and operational efficiency. This requirement is part of the agency's mission to provide high-quality healthcare services to veterans.

Work Details
The contractor must provide, install, and maintain a critical water treatment system under a lease arrangement. The system must include redundancy features, allowing backup operation if the primary system fails.

Key tasks include:
- Removal of the existing critical water system owned by the VA.
- Installation and operation of a temporary critical water system during the transition.
- Provision of a system that meets AAMI ST108 Critical Water Quality Specifications, including:
- Multi-media filtration,
- Water softening,
- Carbon filtering,
- Reverse osmosis,
- Ultraviolet disinfection,
- Deionization,
- Endotoxin filtration.
- Capacity to produce 30 gallons per minute with a minimum 125-gallon storage tank.
- Compliance with specific quality requirements for various contaminants as outlined in AAMI ST 108.
- Monthly routine maintenance and emergency service response within four hours.
- Comprehensive water quality testing in accordance with AAMI ST 108 standards, including bacteriological sampling and analytical reporting.

Period of Performance
The contract is expected to commence around January 1, 2025, with ongoing maintenance and testing services required throughout the lease period.
