Unity Healing Center Online Education

Background
Unity Healing Center (UHC) is a sixteen-bed adolescent Youth Residential Treatment Center located in Cherokee, North Carolina, operated by Indian Health Services, Nashville Area Office. UHC is a 24/7/365 Residential Youth Treatment Facility that requires an online education curriculum to meet the diverse educational needs of its adolescent residents, who come from various states and tribal nations.

The goal is to provide consistent access to education through a blended learning platform that stabilizes the educational component and accommodates individual learning paces.

Work Details
The contractor will provide online education services that include:
1. A fully accredited, enhanced Virtual Learning model for grades 6-12 with live instruction.
2. Flexibility in scheduling classes to accommodate different age groups and individual resident needs.
3. Core online courses aligned with the North Carolina education system curricula.
4. Opportunities for credit recovery for students who need to recover specific units or parts of courses they did not pass.
5. Provision of educational credits for each course/unit completed and National Certification Courses and Curriculum.
6. Core curriculums in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies for middle and high school levels.
7. Self-paced learning options and pretesting to facilitate credit and concept recovery.
8. Additional course offerings including Advanced Placement courses, Career Electives, General Electives, State Specific Courses as needed, along with an online registration and course enrollment process.
9. 24/7 access to online courses for students and organizational use.
10. Personalized learning support for individuals struggling in the classroom while accommodating Individual Education Plans (IEP).
11. Data reporting on student progress throughout each course with access to a learning management system that includes student information, official gradebooks, and communications regarding student performance.

Period of Performance
The contract period will begin on 10/01/2025 and end on 09/30/2026 with four optional renewal years extending through 09/30/2030.
