UEPH Barracks   3

Background
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Seattle District has a requirement to construct two new three-story 84-person Construct Unaccompanied Enlisted Personnel Housing (UEPH) Barracks. The project has been selected to be a pilot study as outlined in the 2022 National Defense Authorization Act Section 2861, focusing on the cost and schedule impacts of implementing more sustainable materials as the primary construction material, while tracking the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of those materials.

Work Details
The construction work includes primary facilities such as living and sleeping quarters, baths, storage, service areas, information systems, fire protection and alarm systems, Energy Monitoring Control Systems (EMCS) connection, cybersecurity measures, sustainability and energy enhancement measures. Supporting facilities include site development such as demolition, utility connections, electrical power, telecommunications, streetlights, pedestrian lights, site lighting, street paving, road improvements, parking, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, potable water, stormwater, wastewater, information systems, landscaping, signage, and a sport court.
Heating and air conditioning will be provided by a self-contained system utilizing the base’s available energy utilities. The project also requires comprehensive building and furnishings related interior design services.

Place of Performance
The construction projects will be performed at Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM), Washington.
