Original Notice: The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), in coordination with Department of Commerce (DOC), has issued a solicitation to establish a Network Coordination Hub for the National Network for Microelectronics Education. The Network Coordination Hub will be responsible for establishing and operating Regional Nodes to offer consistent, rigorous, engaging curricula, instructional materials, experiential opportunities, teacher professional development and more throughout the U.S. The Network Coordination Hub will be managed by NSF in close coordination with the DOC.

An informational webinar for this solutions offering is scheduled for Friday, October 4, 2024, at 1 2:30 p.m. ET. Join NSF and DOC to learn about the Network Coordination Hub opportunity. Proposers are encouraged to register and attend this webinar, including a presentation covering the program's model and fundamentals, details about the solicitation opportunity and essential submission information. A Q&A will follow the presentation. Proposers are recommended to review the solicitation document before the webinar to maximize the effectiveness of the Q&A session. This webinar aims to raise awareness and clarify the application process for this exciting opportunity, which gives applicants the chance to play a leading role in fulfilling the semiconductor and microelectronics industry's workforce needs.

Background
The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), in coordination with the Department of Commerce (DOC), has issued a solicitation to establish a Network Coordination Hub for the National Network for Microelectronics Education. This initiative is part of the U.S. CHIPS and Science Act, which provides funding to stimulate microelectronics research, development, design, and manufacturing in the United States.

The goal is to address the expected shortage of skilled workers needed by the microelectronics industry, particularly focusing on the semiconductor workforce. The Hub will manage the National Network for Microelectronics Education (NNME), serving as a coalition of regional programs and centers aimed at preparing individuals for roles in this workforce.

Work Details
The Hub will be responsible for several key activities:
1) Selecting and managing Regional Nodes to form the NNME, which will tailor activities to regional workforce needs;
2) Providing a neutral platform for collaboration among stakeholders;
3) Ensuring curricula are broad enough to provide transferable skills while also being specialized for industry needs;
4) Engaging K-12 students in microelectronics education;
5) Promoting flexible and stackable credentials that allow continuous upskilling;
6) Coordinating with various partners including NSF, DOC, and industry stakeholders to fulfill program objectives.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed over a six-year period with multiple funding orders anticipated during this timeframe.

The place of performance will be within the United States.
