Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), National Cemetery Administration, is seeking a contractor to provide grounds maintenance services for the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.

This contract aims to ensure that the cemetery, which serves as a national shrine honoring Veterans and their families, is maintained to high standards of appearance and operational procedures. The goal is to reflect the nation's respect for those interred there through diligent care and maintenance.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for various grounds maintenance tasks including:
1) Mowing all turf areas and rough or native grass areas, string trimming around upright headstones and flat markers, blade edging around flat grave markers, and sweeping/removing debris on artificial turf.
2) String trimming in improved areas such as sidewalks, curbs, beds, and fences; edging concrete sidewalks and curbs.
3) Leaf mulching or removal.
4) Flower removal during mowing season.

The contractor must perform these tasks with special care and reverence due to the nature of the cemetery as a final resting place.

Period of Performance
The contract will be for a base period of one year with four additional one-year options, potentially extending through 2030.
