Background
The Department of Defense (DoD) is seeking to enhance the U.S. defense industrial base through the development of a strategy mandated by Section 866 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25 NDAA). This strategy aims to ensure that the defense industrial base can meet requirements for solid rocket motors (SRMs) and includes an assessment of innovative technologies and manufacturing processes that support modernization and evolution.

Work Details
The DoD is requesting information on emerging technologies or modernization of manufacturing processes for SRMs and their subcomponents, including energetics. Respondents should provide insights on:

1. Technology Landscape & Readiness:
- Technology readiness levels (TRLs) and manufacturing readiness levels (MRLs), including validation or testing milestones achieved.
- Relevance to SRM production and comparisons to current approaches in performance, reliability, or efficiency.
- Specific performance enhancements such as increased burn rate uniformity and improved material properties.

2. Integration and Scalability:
- Challenges in integrating these technologies into supply chains and scalability for high-volume production.
- Potential production bottlenecks.

3. Cost & Investment Considerations:
- Estimated cost implications for adopting these technologies compared to traditional methods, including capital expenditures and operational costs.
- Existing budgets for adoption, including private and federal funding sources.

4. Timelines:
- Anticipated timelines for transitioning to advanced manufacturing methods, milestones for tracking progress, and alignment with DoD program requirements.
