This is a COMBINED SYNOPSIS/SOLICITATION for a Nortek Signature Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) and is prepared in accordance with the information in FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures, and as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued.

This is a Sole Source requirement to NortekUSA Inc. The NAICS associated with this purchase is 334516 and Small Business Standard is 1000. Method of payment will be Wide Area Work Flow (WAWF).

Sole Source Requirement: The proposed contract action is for commercial supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under FAR Part 6.303-2. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all bids, proposals, or quotations received by the closing response date will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.

Description of Product / Service:
1.0 Background/Introduction:
The Oceanography Department (OC) at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) is in need of an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) which is used for measuring ocean currents, waves, and turbulence.
This particular ADCP model allows for concurrent measurements with a sampling frequency of up to 16 Hz. It will be used by researchers and students of the OC department in student thesis research of turbulent kinetic energy, nearshore wave processes, nearshore current processes, and surf zone dynamics.
