SHEN - Fire Extinguisher Inspections and Service

Background
The National Park Service (NPS) is issuing this solicitation for fire extinguisher inspection and maintenance services at Shenandoah National Park (SHEN). The goal of the contract is to ensure that all fire extinguishers within the park are properly inspected, maintained, and serviced according to safety regulations. This acquisition supports the mission of the NPS to protect and preserve national parks for future generations.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for inspecting and servicing all fire extinguishers located throughout Shenandoah National Park, including spares at the maintenance complex. Key tasks include:

1. Annual inspections of 265 extinguishers as specified in the provided table. The contractor must tag each extinguisher appropriately and notify the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) of any failing units that cannot remain in service.

2. Disposal or recycling of inoperable/unserviceable units upon COR approval, following applicable laws and regulations.

3. Additional inspections on a per-unit basis as needed, with costs not exceeding $5,000 combined with other specified work during any period.

4. Scheduled six-year servicing for specific quantities of extinguishers as outlined in the table provided in the Statement of Work.

5. The contractor must communicate any discrepancies between onsite equipment and the park-provided inventory to the COR, along with any deficiencies regarding placement, sizing, or types of extinguishers.

Period of Performance
The contract will have a base period from June 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026, with four optional periods extending through May 31, 2030, and an optional six-month extension until November 30, 2030.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed throughout Shenandoah National Park along Skyline Drive, which spans 105 miles from Front Royal, VA to Waynesboro, VA. The headquarters for operations is located at 3655 US Highway 211E Luray, VA 22835.
