Background
The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) requires the maintenance of its current SAP NS2 software license and support for the Nationwide Automatic Identification System (NAIS), which is crucial for maritime domain awareness by providing information on vessels sailing within U.S. ports and waterways. The renewal of SAP NS2 software license and maintenance support enables continued access to software upgrades, updates, security patches, and technical support. Additionally, the USCG is in the process of reengineering the NAIS system with an anticipated completion in FY24, which will be supported and hosted in a cloud environment and utilize microservices. Until the reengineering efforts are complete, the NAIS version currently deployed still requires the use of SAP NS2 software license and maintenance support.
