Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is issuing this solicitation for regulated medical waste management services at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center located in Bronx, NY.

The VA's mission is to provide high-quality healthcare to veterans, and this contract aims to ensure the safe and compliant removal and disposal of regulated medical waste generated by the facility. The contractor will be responsible for managing all aspects of waste disposal in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide comprehensive regulated medical waste (RMW) removal and disposal services, which include:
1. Collection and disposal of RMW from various locations within the medical center, including compactor areas and buildings designated for sharps containers.
2. Training and support to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
3. Waste audits to profile waste streams and reduce volumes.
4. Monthly tracking reports detailing waste generation by type and location.
5. Provision of appropriate containers for RMW that are puncture-resistant, leak-proof, and properly labeled.
6. Timely reporting on waste volume reductions and action plans for any shortfalls.
7. Compliance with safety standards set forth by OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory bodies.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence in April 2025 and run through March 2026, with four optional one-year extensions available.
