GROUNDS MAINTENANCE - LONG ISLAND NATIONAL CEMETERY, NY.   3

Background
The Long Island National Cemetery, located in Farmingdale, NY, was established as a national cemetery in 1936. The cemetery grounds encompass approximately 350 acres of land with approximately 310 being turf. It is a National Shrine that honors veterans with a final resting place and lasting memorials that commemorate their service to our Nation. The cemetery receives visitors, holds ceremonies and conducts committal services. Because of the special significance and attention it receives from the public, strict adherence to the specifications is essential.
Every action by contractor personnel at a national cemetery must be performed with the special care, reverence, dignity, and respect that acknowledges the cemetery as the final resting place that commemorates the service and sacrifice that service members, Veterans and their families made for our Nation.

Work Details
The Contractor shall furnish all labor, supervision, equipment, materials and supplies to provide cemetery grounds maintenance services at the Long Island National Cemetery. This includes mowing all grass within the cemetery perimeters bordering Wellwood Ave., Little East Neck Road, and Colonial Springs Road. The work also involves trimming headstones and markers, fence lines, curb lines, trees, miscellaneous structures throughout the entire cemetery; edging of all cemetery sidewalks/curb lines; trash and debris removal; fall leaf removal & cleanup; tree pruning/trimming/removal; holiday wreath removal & pickup; snow removal from all sidewalks.
The Contractor shall also provide a General Grounds Supervisor dedicated to supervising general grounds care tasks.

Period of Performance
The contract period includes a base period with options for additional years. The contract will be performed during normal cemetery hours of operation (8:00am - 4:30pm local time / Monday thru Friday - excluding Federal Holidays).
