Background
This solicitation is for medical waste removal services for the Salem VA Medical center and Lynchburg, Wytheville, and Staunton CBOC's (Community Base Outpatient Clinics). The Department of Veterans Affairs is issuing the contract, and it is an SDVOSB Set-aside. Contractors must be registered with https://veterans.certify.sba.gov/ to be eligible for award.

Work Details
The contractor is required to furnish all labor, disposal equipment, containers, supplies, materials, transportation, and supervision for pick-up, transport, and treatment services of biohazardous waste from various Department of Veterans Affairs medical facilities. The contractor shall treat and/or dispose of biohazardous medical waste in compliance with all applicable State and Federal regulations and VA requirements. The contract will be an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with a five-year ordering period. The contractor shall provide a portable storage building for the collection and temporary storage of properly packaged medical waste. The contract includes the removal of medical waste/sharp waste, waste chemo/pathology waste, and waste pharmaceuticals over multiple option periods.

Period of Performance
The contract period includes a base period from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025. It also includes multiple option periods: Option 1 from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026; Option 2 from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027; Option 3 from July 1, 2027, to June 30, 2028; Option 4 from July 1, 2028 to June 30, 2029.
