Project Name: Roy Creek Biomass Stewardship IRSC, Eastern Region (R9), Huron-Manistee National Forest, Huron Shores Ranger District, MI

Project Location: The project area is located on Vandercook Road approximately 1 2 mile east of FSR 4759. The project area lies entirely on National Forest System lands within the administrative boundaries of the Huron Shores Ranger District on the Huron-Manistee National Forest in Michigan. Legal land description is T25N, R07E, Section 25; Mikado, Alcona County, MI.

Description: The Huron-Manistee National Forest is currently preparing the Roy Creek Biomass Stewardship IRSC which aims to clear out a stand of immature Jack Pine for future Kirtland Warbler habitat creation. Goals will be accomplished through a series of silvicultural management activities designed to remove all biomass from the project area.

The resultant contract will include Forest product removal on 112 acres with an estimated volume of 781 CCF of Jack Pine-Other green biomass.

The following work activities are anticipated as mandatory service items:

1. Mechanically cut and removal biomass
2. Road Maintenance on approximately 7.5 miles of native surface road to facilitate hauling of included timber.

Pre Solicitation Site Visit Date and Time:

Prior to solicitation, the Forest will hold a site visit for prospective contractors to facilitate dialogue on contractual requirements that are anticipated in the contract and any operational limitations foreseen by attendees.

The site visit will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. EST with an initial meeting location at Project Site Location listed above. The solicitation will be posted in late February 2022 with work anticipated to begin in May 2022.
