RFI for a Long Range Reconnaissance (LRR) Group 1/2 Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS)

ID: RFI-W911QY • Type: Presolicitation

Description

See attachment.

Background
The Department of the Army, specifically the Program Executive Office Aviation (PEO AVN), Project Office Unmanned Aircraft Systems (PM UAS), and Product Office for Soldier Unmanned Aircraft Systems (PdO SUAS) at Redstone Arsenal, is seeking industry information for a Long Range Reconnaissance (LRR) Group 1/2 Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) to be used by United States Army Maneuver Elements. The purpose is to identify potential systems that can execute day and night multi-mission roles in all weather conditions with modular Reconnaissance, Surveillance, Target Acquisition (RSTA) and precision munition payloads delivery. The system should be rugged, environmentally durable, dynamically agile in the digital data link frequency spectrum and ready to use as delivered with minimal logistics, training, and support requirements. The Ground Control Station (GCS) should be man-portable and include necessary equipment to control and monitor aircraft status, control sensor(s) position and status, sensors/payloads and payload movement and view video imagery and data.

Work Details
The Long Range Reconnaissance (LRR) Small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS) should have the following capabilities: Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) from a small, confined area with no or minimal support equipment for launch and land operation; 30 kilometers minimum direct line-of-site range; 5 hours minimum endurance; powered by a high-density fuel cell and/or battery power; quality day and night imagery sensor(s) for detection and identification of targets; modular, multiple mission payload capability; real-time Full Motion Video (FMV); laser target illuminator and/or designator; option to carry/release lethal payloads; all weather/all environment capability; appropriate artificial intelligence to support mission execution; modular and open architecture for payloads, navigation, communications, software, and other support components; interoperability with other Army manned and unmanned systems; rugged, durable, lightweight, easily man-portable as a system; time to set-up and launch: 10 min (Battery)/20 min (Fuel Cell); minimal logistics, training, and support requirements. A solicitation is expected to be released 1QFY24 with contract award as early as 2QFY24.
The anticipated schedule requires delivery of 8 developmental test systems by January 2025 and production systems in January 2028.
