Requests for Information (RFI) For Rapid AI Adaptation

Background
The Department of the Air Force, Air Force Materiel Command, AFRL – Rome Research Site, AFRL/Information Directorate, issued a Request for Information (RFI) for Rapid AI Adaptation. The RFI is for information and planning purposes and does not commit to contract for any supply or service whatsoever. The Air Force is not seeking proposals at this time and will not accept unsolicited proposals. The U.S. Government will not pay for any information or administrative costs incurred in response to this RFI.

Work Details
The RFI seeks technical concepts, approaches, and merits of approaches to adapt and convey learning from Artificial Intelligence (AI) models in mission critical timeframes. Specifically, it focuses on the technical process of 'Rapid AI Adaptation' and aims to enable the first stage of machine learning (ML) model adaptation by identifying out-of-distribution (OOD) data and ML model prediction uncertainty, particularly in high-dimensionality data such as non-tabular image data.

The operational context involves future peer conflicts where every domain will be contested, and ML-based warfighting systems are expected to be used.
