Background
The contract is for a 100% design-build construction requirement to Repair Thunder Landing Zone (LZ) Northwest Field Andersen Air Force Base, Guam. The project involves a full depth runway repair that is approximately 150’ wide by 8500’ long, including demolishing and removing all surface course and base course to existing subgrade, compacting the existing subgrade, providing new base course and runway surface course, painting all pavement markings, and sloping and grading non-engineered surfaces away from the runway in accordance with design guidance, plans, specifications, and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) 3-260-01, Airfield and Heliport Planning and Design and UFC 3-260-02, Pavement Design for Airfields.

Work Details
The Contractor shall perform a full depth runway repair that is approximately 150’ wide by 8500’ long. The project includes demolishing and removing all surface course and base course to existing subgrade. After demolition, the Contractor shall compact the existing subgrade, provide new base course and runway surface course. The repair includes 10’ wide shoulders extending the full length of the runway on both sides. The Contractor shall paint all pavement markings, and the Contractor shall slope and grade non-engineered surfaces away from the runway in accordance with design guidance, plans, specifications, and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) 3-260-01, Airfield and Heliport Planning and Design and UFC 3-260-02, Pavement Design for Airfields.
