Owners of Short-Term Rental Properties Rental Properties Wanted

FEMA is actively seeking owners of rental units suitable for families and individuals displaced by the Maui Wildfires. The units are offered to survivors for long-term leasing for up to 24 months.

FEMA has awarded contracts to three property management companies to help facilitate communication between property owners of rental units or homes and FEMA. Through FEMA's Direct Lease program, you can help house a family in need and receive fair and stable compensation for doing so. Properties must be located within 40 miles of Lahaina.

We will be holding an Industry Day event for this Direct Lease program on Thursday, December 21st from 9am to 3:30pm both virtual and in-person. The location for the event is:

Background
FEMA is actively seeking owners of rental units suitable for families and individuals displaced by the Maui Wildfires. The units are offered for long-term leasing for up to 24 months. FEMA has awarded contracts to three property management companies to help facilitate communication between property owners of rental units or homes and FEMA. Through FEMA’s Direct Lease program, property owners can help house a family in need and receive fair and stable compensation for doing so.

Work Details
The solicitation is for rental properties for Direct Lease in Maui, Hawaii (DR4724). The County of Maui is offering a 6-month long-term rental exemption (Bill 95) for properties leased to individuals directly displaced by the August 2023 Maui Wildfires. There are also scenarios outlined for real property tax long-term rental exemptions, including an 18-month long-term rental exemption (Bill 131) and a 12-month long-term rental exemption (Bill 131). Each exemption has specific deadlines to file and requirements for the lease term.
