Background
The National Hansen’s Disease Program (NHDP) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana is a specialized federal medical facility for the treatment of persons with Hansen’s disease (HD). The NHDP, operated by the Federal Government since 1921, has statutory responsibility to provide care for outpatients with HD. The facility serves as a clinic for outpatients and as housing quarters to onsite patients who are diagnosed with HD and are referred from Ambulatory Care Clinics or private physicians for medical services.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide physical therapy services including assessment of patients; identification of therapy diagnosis; formulation of therapy treatment plan, goals, and implementation; supervision and modification of therapy program for each patient; education and training of ambulatory staff and visiting health care providers; preparing and delivering presentations; preparing and editing education materials; and collecting clinical research data.

The focus of the treatment shall be on patients with neuropathic limb dysfunction secondary to HD, performance of wound management, total contact cast fabrication, fabrication of orthotics, and modification of footwear.

Period of Performance
The period of performance shall be a base period of 12 months plus four 12-month option periods. The anticipated start date is September 23, 2023.

Place of Performance
The work shall be performed at the NHDP facility located at 9181 Interline Ave, Baton Rouge, LA. Additionally, presentations shall be conducted at multiple locations in the Baton Rouge area.
