Description

The project involves the repair work inside the Old Conduit (which is a confined space), with shotecrete and carbon fiber wrap, demolition in the Old Gatehouse at Great Falls, construction of a guard rail at Manhole No. 52 vent house and pressure cleaning by dry abrasive blasting of the existing sluice gates at three separate cross-connection structures. Upon inspection of the cleaned gates at the cross-connections, the Washington Aqueduct may exercise an option to include demolition of the existing gates and installation of new sluice gates. The Washington Aqueduct may also exercise an option for demolition in the Old Gatehouse at Great Falls.
Background
The project involves repair work inside the Old Conduit at the Washington Aqueduct. The effort required under this contract will be performed in support of the Washington Aqueduct between the Potomac River at Great Falls and the Dalecarlia Water Treatment Facility.

Work Details
The major features of this project include repair of approximately 12,000 linear feet of the 8 to 10-foot diameter Old Conduit through the installation of 2.5 inches of shotcrete, repair of approximately 305 linear feet of the 8.5 to 9.5-foot diameter Old Conduit through the installation of carbon fiber reinforced polymer composite system, removal and disposal of debris inside the Old Conduit, access, resetting, furnishing and restoration or modification of up to twenty-two (22) temporary access locations, removal, salvage and replacement or installation of approximately 240 metal station markers inside the Old Conduit, installation of a guard rail at Manhole No. 52 vent house, pressure cleaning by dry abrasive blasting of the existing sluice gates at three separate cross-connection structures, record drawing as-built survey of the entire internal length of the conduit, restoration of disturbed areas to original or better conditions including sodding, seeding, sidewalk, bike path and pavement repairs.

Approximately Fifteen (15) months

Place of Performance
The geographic location(s) for construction projects will be between the Potomac River at Great Falls and the Dalecarlia Water Treatment Facility.
