The Mosul Youth Detention Center project in Mosul, Iraq is a renovation of an existing facility which includes demolition and new construction of a guard barracks, north and east perimeter wall replacement, additional guard towers, a new enclosure for the center yard, and a generator replacement.
The detention center needs minor renovations to include a partial perimeter wall replacement, additional guard towers, a new generator, and a new enclosure for the center yard. The perimeter wall replacement is needed to improve perimeter security by increasing the height and quality of the north and east perimeter walls to match the south and west walls. The additional guard towers are needed for the guards to better cover their respective fields of fire. The new generator is needed for power surety in the event that city power, which the detention center is connected to, is unreliable. The new enclosure for the center yard is needed to increase the space available for detainee youth to run and play without risking injury by running into support beams. Furnishings, Fixtures, and Equipment (FFE) to include metal detectors, an airport baggage scanner, new TVs and cameras for the CCTV camera system, and fire extinguishers. The FFE is needed to increase security, force protection, and safety measures at the facility.
