Mortuary Services - FMC Carswell   3

Background
The Federal Bureau of Prisons, Field Acquisition Office, Grand Prairie, Texas, is seeking a contractor to provide mortuary services for the male Adult in Custody (AIC) population at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas.

The goal of this contract is to ensure dignified and compliant handling of deceased individuals during incarceration, including transportation and preparation of bodies.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for:
1. Arranging transportation of deceased bodies from the Medical Examiner’s Office or local hospital to the contractor’s funeral home using a closed hearse or registered vehicle.
2. Conducting embalming services according to state laws, which includes:
a. Normal Cases - where death is due to disease with minimal tissue damage;
b. Autopsy Cases - requiring sectional embalming due to prior autopsy procedures.
3. Providing necessary preparations such as dressing and casket provision when burial is selected by next of kin.
4. Transporting the body to designated locations (railway station, air terminal, or local cemetery) as directed by FMC Carswell.
5. Handling cremation requests and providing transportation to crematories if different from the funeral home.
6. Securing all necessary papers and permits for shipment or interment and providing two certified copies of death certificates to FMC Carswell.
7. Ensuring compliance with all state and interstate laws regarding embalming, preparation, burial, and shipment of bodies.

The services will be performed at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Carswell located in Fort Worth, Texas.
