Mortuary Services - FCC Butner   4

Background
The Federal Bureau of Prisons, Field Acquisition Office, located in Grand Prairie, Texas, is seeking to award a contract for mortuary services for the male Adult in Custody (AIC) population at the Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) Butner in North Carolina.

The goal of this contract is to ensure that all necessary mortuary services are provided in a timely and professional manner for individuals who pass away while incarcerated.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for providing comprehensive mortuary services which include: transportation of deceased individuals, embalming, body preparation, clothing provision, filing of necessary certificates and permits, casket provision, shipping, cremation, and burial services.

Upon notification of an AIC death by designated FCC staff, the contractor must pick up the body within four hours and transport it to the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office. After release from the Medical Examiner’s Office, the contractor will transport the body to their funeral home for embalming and preparation. Final arrangements will be communicated by FCC staff which may include local burial, cremation, or shipment of remains. The contractor must comply with all state laws regarding embalming and transportation. Services are required on an as-needed basis with 24/7 availability.

Period of Performance
The total duration of this contract shall not exceed 5 years including any options exercised.

Place of Performance
Mortuary services will be performed at the contractor's funeral home.
