Description

The proposed work in the FNP consists of maintenance dredging of the 6foot and 8 feet deep entrance channel and of the 6-foot-deep inner harboranchorage area. The project will require dredging of about 44,000 cubicyards (CY) of mixed sandy and silty material from the anchorage area andapproximately 15,000 CY of sand and cobbles from the entrance channel.Material dredged from the entrance channel will be placed (from 1November 2023 to 31 January 2024) at a previously used nearshore area, ahaul distance of about 1 nautical mile from the harbor. Material dredgedfrom the anchorage will be hauled to, and placed (from 1 October 2023 to31 December 2023) at, the Cape Cod Bay Disposal Site, about 13 nauticalmiles away from the harbor.This project will require floating marine plant consisting in part of a bargemounted mechanical (bucket) dredge, two or more scows for hauling thedredged materials, tugs to position the dredge and tow the scows,workboats to transfer crew, and survey boats. Dredging and disposaloperations are expected to take about three months to complete. Theavailable work window for this project is 1 October to 31 January asoutlined above. Contingent upon receiving competitive bids, work isanticipated to start in October 2023.
Background

Work Details
