Lightweight Counter Mortar Radar (LCMR) Replacement RFI

Background
The United States Marine Corps (USMC) is seeking information for the replacement of the AN/TPQ-49A Lightweight Counter Mortar Radar (LCMR). The LCMR is a 360-degree, rapidly deployable, man-transportable, digitally connected, day/night mortar locating radar used for target detection, verification, tracking, and classification of enemy and friendly mortars. The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to inform the development of requirements for a replacement without an extensive research and development effort.

Work Details
The USMC is interested in readily available radars with increased capabilities designed to perform expeditionary 360-degree counter rocket, artillery, and mortar detection with potential to ingest future Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) detection requirements. The preferred system attributes include providing multi-mission capabilities allowing the Marine Corps to operate in a counter-fire or counter-UAS mode either separately or simultaneously as deemed necessary for mission requirement. It should also provide 360-degree indirect fire (IDF) detection coverage with a minimum detection range of 500 meters and preferred maximum detection range of 20 kilometers or greater. Additionally, it should provide an IDF target location error of no more than 100 meters and 360-degree sense and track UAS coverage. The system should require no more than one Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) for transportation and have the ability to be operated mounted or dismounted from the JLTV with a setup and teardown time of 10 minutes or less.
