Background
The Office of Environmental Health & Engineering (OEHE) completed a follow-up moisture assessment and reported visible mold growth and signs of water damage throughout various units. The Hopi Health Care Center (HHCC) is attaining a Microbial Assessment Survey for mold remediation using a Contract for Professional Services for the Keams Canyon Quarter Units. The Service Unit is currently down 12 quarters units from their active inventory due to the potential mold infestation, and if substantial mold growth is identified, mold mitigation measures will be taken to restore these units for occupancy.

Work Details
The purpose of the services is to test air within each of the project units for fungal spores and to evaluate the impact of microbial growth. This includes obtaining up to forty ambient air samples and up to twelve surface samples, following standard practices for indoor air quality surveys. The areas that will be surveyed include the living spaces of each unit with a focus on the areas that were identified with elevated moisture levels.
Additionally, the crawlspace of each unit will be assessed to determine the potential source of the water leak. Physical parameters at the site such as temperature, relative humidity, and carbon dioxide will be recorded at each sample location. A Tramex Moisture Encounter Plus will be utilized to screen select building materials for moisture content.
The sample results will be compared with exterior reference samples for similarities in genus distribution and dominance, and a summary report will be prepared describing the limited sample collection procedures, limited field observations of project site conditions, data comparisons, and the test results regarding the indoor air quality.
