Background
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Defense Sciences Office (DSO) is sponsoring a live virtual webinar to provide information and promote technical exchange with potential proposers on the objectives of the Investigating how Neurological Systems Process Information in REality (INSPIRE) Advanced Research Concept (ARC) Opportunity (DARPA-EA-24-01-04).

The goal of this initiative is to invite submissions of abstracts for innovative exploratory research concepts in the domain of experimental and computational neuroscience, aiming to discover new fundamental theories of cognitive computation that could lead to advancements in neurotechnology for national security applications.

Work Details
The webinar will include an overview of DSO and the ARC initiative, along with an INSPIRE-specific presentation.

Registrants will have the opportunity to hear from Government personnel and leading researchers in related fields, and participate in question-and-answer sessions. The INSPIRE ARC encourages performers to explore novel questions about how neurological systems create a representation of reality, moving beyond traditional digital models based on firing rates of neurons.

Performers are urged to justify how their methods or insights exceed current state-of-the-art approaches, focusing on experimental, computational, and theoretical efforts.

Period of Performance
The online webinar will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. ET.

Place of Performance
The webinar will be conducted virtually.
