Background
NASA's National Space Science Center (NSSC) has a requirement for an Instron Model 9440 Drop Tower System with Bluehill Impact software. This procurement is aimed at enhancing the capabilities for damage tolerance testing of composite materials at the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). The goal is to ensure compliance with industry standards and improve testing accuracy for aerospace applications.

Work Details
The contract includes the procurement, installation, and commissioning of an Instron Model 9440 Instrumented Drop Tower. The system will be utilized for impact testing and residual strength analysis of fiber-reinforced composites. Key components and specifications include:
- C-9440: 1 unit of 9440 drop tower system
- C-9440-015: 1 steel base to increase working height
- C-9440-A1: 1 set of user manuals in English
- C-9440-D1: 1 electrical supply unit (100 to 120 V, 50 and 60 Hz)
- C-7519-301: 1 strain-gauge instrumented tup, Type 1, 22 kN
- Inserts of various sizes (12.7 mm, 25.4 mm, and 38.1 mm diameters)
- Adjustable height stand and general purpose plate.
The system must meet technical criteria such as an impact energy range up to 405J, maximum drop mass of 37.5 kg, and compliance with ASTM D7136/D7137 standards.

Period of Performance
10-12 weeks after receipt of order (ARO), with a need by date of June 30, 2025.

Place of Performance
NASA MSFC Central Receiving, 4631 Saturn RD, Huntsville, AL 35812.
