This event is an excellent opportunity for businesses to learn about potential federal contracting opportunities related to this pilot, and to gain insights into the scope and objectives of the project.
FIMP Home Elevation Pilot Project Areas:
1. Mastic Beach in the Town of Brookhaven, NY
2. Frederick Shores in the Town of Babylon, NY
Pilot Summary:
The FIMP project includes, among other actions, the elevation and floodproofing of approximately 4,400 structures on the south shore of Suffolk County, NY. The FIMP Home Elevation Pilot Project focuses on the two aforementioned areas, which will be constructed prior to other project areas. The USACE will conduct initial outreach to determine property eligibility.
Anticipated Project Implementation:
- Authorized Work: The nonstructural work was authorized by mandate and statute. Home elevations throughout the FIMP project area will begin in 2026.
- Pilot Project Focus: This Pilot Project will be the first contract for elevations, with construction scheduled to start in 2026. The purpose of this pilot is to demonstrate the implementation of the home elevation process.
- Community Engagement: Two communities were selected based on the criteria mentioned above as a sample group within the larger FIMP project area. Elevations for the pilot and eligible homeowners will remain eligible for elevations in future contracts if they choose not to participate in the pilot.
