Description:
Machinery for the processing of steel, aluminum and plastic cartridge cases, in sizes ranging from 20mm to 50mm diameter.
THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY, which is being issued in accordance with (IAW) Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) subpart 15.201(e) as part of market research. This is not a solicitation/request for proposal and no contract shall be awarded from this synopsis. There is no solicitation package available at this time. All responses must be received NLT 12:00 local Maryland time on 16 December 2024. All questions and comments must be in writing; no telephone calls will be accepted. The Government will not pay for any information received in response to this request, nor will the Government compensate any respondent for any costs incurred in developing the information provided to the Government. Not responding to this RFI does not preclude participation in any future RFP, if any is issued. Purpose:Request for Information Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) is one of the Department of Defense's (DoD's) foremost test and training ranges supporting DoD, non-DoD and commercial material developers by testing a broad spectrum of equipment throughout the life cycle, from concept through deployment.
The intent of this RFI is to identify sources that can provide a system capable of shredding medium caliber steel, brass, aluminum or plastic expended cartridges cases of the following cylindrical sizes (Length x Diameter x Maximum Material Thickness):

Place of Contract Performance: This contract requires work at ATC's Ammunition Processing area Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. The work will be performed at the location specified in each individual Task Order.

Major Support Services:
The objective of this contract is to develop a medium caliber cartridge case processing system consisting of feed and waste conveyors and a high-capacity industrial shredder. The system requires the following capabilities:
- Electric High-capacity industrial shredder with sizing screen for consistent particle output.
- Independently controlled electric feed conveyor positioned with the input side approximately 3ft off the ground (waist high) to carry material up and into the shredder.
- Independently controlled electric waste conveyor to collect shredded material from shredder to transport roll-off container. Discharge height must be at least 9ft off the ground.
Request for Information: Please respond to the following in Arial font size 12 in no more than 3 pages in length .
1. Does your organization have any experience in designing, fabricating, assembling and installing industrial shredders and conveyors? Please provide details to adequately define the scope of effort.
2. What would the anticipated power requirements, physical footprint, location, foundation requirements be for such a system? Can the system be exposed to the elements?
3. What are the anticipated maintenance requirements of such a system? Are special tools or maintenance procedures anticipated?
4. What is the estimated time required to design such a capability? What is the estimated time required to fabricate, assemble and deploy such a capability? Are there any long lead time items?
5. What information is required to design, fabricate, assemble and deploy such a capability?
6. Is there an alternative method other than an industrial shredder that may be used to create this capability?
7. Please provide cost estimate for the design, development, delivery and installation of the cartridge case shredding system. This cost estimate does not signify an offer on this RFI.
