Background
The solicitation is for hazardous tree removal at the Palomar Development Site in the Cleveland National Forest. The work involves chipping/grinding and removal of previously cut GSOB infested oak trees at the San Luis Rey Picnic Area and the Observatory Campground in northeastern San Diego County, CA. The contractor is responsible for providing all equipment, supplies, transportation, labor, and supervision necessary to complete the project.

Work Details
The work includes locating previously cut oak trees, skidding, yarding, or otherwise moving tree boles, limb wood, and resultant slash to an access point, chipping/grinding to a 3-inch minus particle size, and removing chips off national forest system lands. Optional work may include cutting, chipping, and removal of standing oak trees which die between solicitation and contractor commencement of operations. The estimated number of dead oak trees abated since 2016 is provided.

The contract areas will be accessed from established highways, county roads, and Forest system roads. Work vehicles and equipment will be parked on Forest Service land unless prior arrangements have been made by the contractor.

Period of Performance
The estimated start date for services is August 15, 2022, with a period of performance lasting until August 22, 2022.

Place of Performance
The projects are located on the Cleveland National Forest, Descanso Ranger District. The specific locations for the work are San Luis Rey Picnic Area – CA-76, Santa Ysabel, CA 92070 and Observatory Campground – Co Hwy S6, Canfield Road, Palomar Mountain, CA 92060.
